Artist Statement:

My main areas of exploration in my research/creative work have been with vitreous enameling and metal vessel making processes. In almost every human interaction there is an eating or drinking component. The objects used for displaying or serving the food or drink, whether ceremonial or purely utilitarian, are often reflective of the user’s perceived relationship to human society, the natural world or the spiritual world. I am interested in exploring this in my work. How the people using them relate to the objects I make, how they relate to the people they use them with, and how the objects relate to the ceremony or function they are used for are the ideas that interest me and keep me working with functional vessels and other objects of service.
